Fellow listers may be pleased to note that the US Department of
Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Clearinghouse (EREC) has
a couple of web sites that addresses this and other issues that may be of
interest to the group (see below).
Our objective is to provide unbiased information to the public--key
word being "unbiased" (Everyone is biased to some degree, but we do our
best to present the facts as we understand them; selling nothing, partial
to no group, etc; and we are always striving to learn--so please make any
communication between us a two-way street!)
Cob, straw-clay, straw bale, superadobe, and other alternative
design/construction methods are all interests of mine (and projects
when/where clients have the will). I've been lurking since the list
formed.
Our information on cob and many of the other alternatives is
currently limited to my knowledge (ie. limited and not yet in print). If
I ever have the opportunity (or directive) to put such in print, it may
become available on the web or through snail-mail.
