Cob Re.cob fireplace

Hi cobbers
We tried a cob fireplace in a little cabin a couple of years ago.  The mix
on the inside was clay/sand appr. 2" thick , then stone and cob .
It turned out that the inner layer was too weak, couldn't stand up to being
bumped into with wood etc. . So I suggest firebrick for the lining and cob
your heart out all around it!
