Cob Exploring & Fun in the Southwest Sun - Do you want a visitor?

Hi Cobbers,

My wife Alice and I have created a particularly good situation where
we can leave our little homestead for about 6 to 8 weeks. We are
experienced in cob in that we have attended a Cob Cottage Workshop, built a
cob sweat/sauna on our property, hosted a cob workshop and have nearly
finished the
first story of our 2-story cob cottage. We have cob floors, a solar room,
a rainwater collection system with a cob cistern, and are wiring for 12 volt
and 110.
Our north wall is straw bale and cob. Where we live it is getting too cold
to continue
Cobbing. Now... we want to adventure a little bit by doing some warm
weather
traveling and visiting.

We were wondering if there are any Cobbers or potential Cobbers out there
who might be interested in us stopping by during our travels. We, like I
mentioned above, have some experience in cob and would be happy to pass on
what we know and what we have experienced so far. We are also very open to
learning more about alternative building.

Our present plans are to meander the Southwest part of our country. We will
be
traveling in our pickup/camper through Washington, Oregon, California,
Arizona,
New Mexico, parts of Nevada and maybe Utah. We have no itinerary chiseled
in stone.
We hope to experience a bit of Mexico as well. Our plans are to leave in
January
and be back here in the Pacific Northwest around the middle of March.

I understand that parts of Arizona are receptive to "legal" cob building.
With this
In mind, I will be gathering information for possible building in Arizona.
Ideally, we
would like to live in the Northwest during the warmer months and "snowbird",
if you will,
during the winter months. Is Arizona the answer? Maybe New Mexico or
Mexico?

So... anybody have any ideas? Anybody want a couple visitors? Please answer
directly to our email address. vajohnston at nas.com

Sincerely,

Vernon and Alice
