Cob: Domes ...

Does anyone have information on cob dome and vault building?

I've been reading a bit on Hassar Fahey's house building for the poor in
Egypt.  Fascintating, but low on "how to" and whether such techniques could
be translated to different climates successfully.  How do they stand up in
torrential tropical downpours?  How are they water-proofed? If you
water-proof the dome how does that affect the "breathing" of the rest of the
building. How high are the best domes?  How can they be safely interrupted
for a cupola? What is "corbelling"?
