Cob: straw clay insulation questions

Hello everyone

We are in the middle of a remodeling project of an old barn and desperately
need to find a way to insulate this existing building without resorting
to toxic materials.

My first experience with clay/straw has been somewhat disasterous, no
drying, slow production etc. and I feel like I must be missing something.

Can any of you out there that have put up straw/clay (not high mass Cob)
in between trusses PLEASE respond ? We may try cordwood with earthen
mortar (straw clay) to fill some of these long walls....but of course
we also have people breathing down our necks to get these walls insulated
("sure would be easier to use fiberglass...." etc.)

Please help by responding to the list....

Thanks
