Saturday 9th September - Tuesday 12th September
Natural Building  - a four day practical workshop
with Andy Simmons and Adele Mills
Venue - The Hollies Castletown, Enniskeane, Co. Cork.  Ireland Tel: 023
47001
Email -thehollies at eircom.net <mailto://thehollies@eircom.net>

Here's a chance to really get your hands dirty and have great fun while
learning how to use a wide range of natural building techniques.  Andy and
Adele are two of the UK's leading experts on earthen building, and have
recently worked on probably the UK's greenest building, the new solar study
centre (which has earthen walls) at the Centre for Alternative Technology in
Wales.

The course will look at what you can do with natural materials as well as
what you can't do with them.  It will cover the range of earth building
techniques, such as cob building, rammed earth building, wattle and daub and
pise, as well as basic carpentry techniques and joints, and some other
aspects of building: insulation, lining, plastering, rendering and cladding.

Saturday will include lectures and slides and introductions to the
techniques, Sunday to Tuesday would be largely practical and experimental,
with the chance for participants to stop and discuss specific issues
relating to their projects as they arise.  Immerse yourself in the world of
natural building, once you've tried it you'll be hooked for life!
