Cob: insulation-more mixes to use

Hi Kristen, I tried a couple different versions of papercrete and
cobwood in my old barn 2 years ago. I infilled between studs right
against the plank walls with a mix of eath, lime and sawdust I call
cobwood. can be made thick or thin, packed in, and left to dry.

Papercrete is shredded paper, cement (ugh) and sand..but now paper adobe
is popular- just paper and dirt(earth), and I have used shredded office
paper/clay/lime and some sand with dried grass to do the same thing.

the mixes can vary widely...as long as earth and a fiber are used
(paper/woodchips/straw/sawdust, weeds chopped, etc) the mix will work.
I add lime to bind the clay into a natural cement. and it gives
antiseptic properties too, helps keep moisture wicking out.

hope this helps.

Thanks, and email me with any questions.
