Cob: Another Earthquake question

How about the German Cob technique (I can never spell that crazy 
word) where you build forms and pour the cob mix in.

I understand this is a lighter material when it dries. With the fears 
of walls collapsing on people inside, do you think this may be a 
safer material to build with in earthquake prone areas or is the 
weight of the wall more important... assuming both wall types are 
tapered.
