Barbara George, Berkeley, Women's Energy Matters, 510-528-5104, bgwem at igc.org
Global Exchange, San Francisco, at 415-255-7296, or medea at globalexchange.org.

Check out as well www.powertothepeople.org where information will soon be
posted, including info. regarding the utility and generator contributions to
114 of 119 Assembly members and State Senators. Global Exchange and Women's
Energy Matters are demanding that members take all of these contributions
and donate them to consumer and environmental groups which are fighting for
people's right to reasonably-priced energy.

DEFEND PRESIDENT LYNCH OF THE CPUC: Republican lobbyist Sal Russo has
authored THE CORRUPTION OF POWER, a slimy hit piece against President
Loretta Lynch which blames her for NOT raising rates and saving PG&E
and Edison and which attempts to tie her to the Whitewater scandal. The
Republicans and the deregulation right wing of the Democratic Party are
targeting Loretta Lynch because she has had the gall to insist on an honest
accounting of what happened to the deregulation bailout funds which went to
PG&E Co. and Southern California Edison. The CPUC study, which came out two
weeks ago, showed that both PG&E Corp. and Edison International,
holding companies which own the regulated utilities, have each pocketed $5
billion which they have invested in energy ventures everywhere but California.
Lynch is the first CPUC president in over a decade to defend consumer
and environmental and labor rights.
