Cob: Horse ManureShannon C. Dealy dealy at deatech.comWed Jan 23 22:58:53 CST 2002
[snip] > I hadn't previously (that I can recall) heard of anyone deliberately > adding horse manure to cob (though from my experience with plasters I > don't doubt it could be used to improve the mix), but for what it's [snip] I think (based on some of the responses) as well as reading what I wrote (always a mistake :-) I wasn't clear enough here. What I meant is that I haven't seen anyone adding manure (horse or otherwise) to a conventional cob mix used for structural purposes (walls, benches, ovens, sculptures, etc.). The use of dried manure as an additive to cob based plastering mixes is of course quite common, usually greatly improves the quality of the plaster, and something I have even done myself. Shannon C.
