Cob: Cob Earthship? Would it work?

I have been reading up on all the alternative building
techniques.  I was wondering if a cob earthship would
work.  What I mean is, using the tires filled with
packed soil, but then instead of adobe or some other
type of plaster use cob.  

This seems to provide the thermal mass that is
desired, but cuts way down on the mixing of cob
(possibly saving time).

If anyone has any information or opionions on this,
please respond.  Thanks.
