The beauty of natural houses and the process of natural building are
presented by inspiring images and an informative talk. Elke has been
building and designing cob and strawbale buildings for 7 years and shares
her experience with passion. Cob, a mixture of sand, clay and straw, has a
long history in England, where you can find cob houses that have been
continuously occupied for more than 500 years.
More recently cob was rediscovered as a viable building material.
Cobworks on Mayne Island is a group of builders who have created a number of
beautiful cob houses in BC.
This presentation is an opportunity to take a look at recent work as well as
an overview of natural building.
Admission is by donation to cover travel expenses.
A selection of natural building books will be available.
