Cob: OFF TOPIC: any ideas on a roofover for my mobile homes?GlobalCirclenet webmaster at globalcircle.netTue Oct 15 22:55:48 CDT 2002
This is exactly the job I'm facing come spring. Our plan is post-and-beam, or what they call pole frame. Posts form support for roof trusses above the existing mobile roof. Posts about 8 feet apart from ground to just above the roof, bolted into the mobile frame bottom and top. This gives the mobile added strength and stability, with posts resting on concrete footers so the entire structure floats as one unit with frost heave. The mobile itself is blocked, not tied to a ribbon foundation, so it floats with the posts it's bolted to. The posts can be infilled with sheathing or exterior covering, giving further insulation and dead air space between the sheathing and the outside mobile wall. Any other ideas or thoughts on this most welcome! paul & barb - on the continental divide http://globalcircle.net *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 10/15/2002 at 3:34 PM W wrote: >Post-and-beam with salvaged galvanized roofing? this could create a >small covered "porch" area as well... >--- >PeaceLoveLightLifeBeautyTruth >~!w!~ > >"Democracy in a Capitalist Republic is like Socialism in a Communist >Dictatorship" >--- >This email address and other personal information is not available for >commercial use of any kind, including but not limited to: sale, trade, >share, rent or any other form of exchange. > > > >____________________________________________________________ >Get 25MB of email storage with Lycos Mail Plus! >Sign up today -- http://www.mail.lycos.com/brandPage.shtml?pageId=plus
