[Cob] Dome Roof + Cob Planter ?

i heard that they use chicken wire over the whole thing to keep the birds
from stealing the straw.. 
it would be interesting to spray paper pulp on top of it.. which would
adhere.. and tend to cary
the bulk of the water away.
