Announcing October 2004 Building with Earth Lectures & Workshops
Over half the world’s people live in earthen houses.  Learn how this 
ancient way of building is ecological, affordable and fun.  Innovative 
leaders in the field offer inspiring slideshows and thought provoking 
discussion.  Practical, hands on workshops teach basic design and 
construction techniques.

Saturday, October 16, 3pm:  Building with Earth Slideshow, "The Making 
of Intaba's Restaurant"
Intaba's, 1115 SE Third, Hwy 99W, Corvallis
- Designer and Builder Ocean Liff-Anderson offers this exciting journey 
from early conception through earthen construction of our uniquely 
“hand sculpted restaurant”!   Slideshow explores phases of building 
Intaba's 9-foot high wood fired earthen oven and earthen courtyard 
walls.

Sunday, October 17, 10am-4pm:  Introduction to Earth Building
Ahimsa Sanctuary, Philomath
- Designer and Builder Ocean Liff-Anderson teaches basic earth 
construction techniques, material selection, cob mixing, application, 
plus building siting, drainage, foundation, passive solar design.

Sunday, October 24, 10am-4pm:  Basic Earthen Plasters
Ahimsa Sanctuary, Philomath
- Designer and Builder Ocean Liff-Anderson explores a variety of 
earthen finishes, including interior and exterior plasters, beautiful 
earthen floors, plus info on plaster maintenance and repair.

Workshop participants will learn practical, hands-on building 
techniques.  Lectures are free and open to the public, workshops cost 
$55 each, or $100 for both.  Barter/work trade available.  Stay 
overnight at Ahimsa in the Cob Garden Kiva for $25 per night.
