I think that Francine may have sent this just to me.  There are nice 
pictures here.  And one of them--the designforward newsletter mentions that 
a Graham Brown invented the thing, and a website for him (unfortunately, 
it's UNDER RECONSTRUCTION--for how long, since how long, I don't know):
