For Lisa and Anna and all:

A little hard to use reinforcing in a stone wall.  Someone told me once that 
rebar in mortar wasn't a good idea.  Occasionally these pronouncements meant 
that he wasn't going to do it.  No idea what was true in this case.

But that couple who wrote the book on slipform concrete did put barbed wire 
or rebar into their walls, IIRC.  So if you live in an area where that is a 
concern, that may be what you want to do.

Frank Lloyd Wright used rubble trench foundations!

If your inspector looks pale at the mention of rubble trench, see if he 
likes "shallow frost protected foundations" better.  They work too.
