Cat here!

The radiant heating systems that are manufactured are for the most part
plastic tubing that carries heated water and electric tape attached to the
under layment.

copper pipe can be used for water systems but the price of copper is off the
chart so I wouldn't suggest doing that. Water systems always have a
potential to leak. Electrical systems put a matrix of electricity under the
souls of you feet "that would be a personal choice".

My own thoughts run to clay pipe set in the gravel bed with hot air from a
fire room. The heating stove would be in my green house at a lower level in
a room that would capture the heat and let it rise thru clay ducts under the
floor. More labor intensive and clay pipes aren't cheap but maintenance
would be non-existent...few moving parts unless you might want to push the
air with a fan "solar" and even a cracked pipe of two won't drastically
affect the heat disbursement. the venting could run up inside a cob wall.
No digging up the floor to fix a leaky pipe of broken connection.

It is my opinion that most of the "new technology" is designed with a life
span to insure selling more product in the future. I'm for things I can
build, understand and fix if I need to. That is sustainable independence
and freedom.
