i found a quick way to get fine straw, after using the stinky
weed-whacker way for many yards of plaster...

just get a cheap ($30?) electric blower/vacuum/mulcher from Home Depot
(eek!) or other hardware/home improvement store

then just suck the straw through the vacuum/mulcher into the provided
collection bag. run it through a few times to get the desired fineness
of straw. you might need to sieve it through a 1/4-inch mesh for fine
plasters.
