Thank you for this information. Dulane, Kathy and everyone else who have 
responded with such helpful input, thank you all.

After reviewing some of the seismic tests, I will leave in the braces 
from pole to pole and make sure the braces go in in that odd diamond 
shape with the two bottom pieces longer than the top. Everything is cut 
at angles that fit together. It's very strong. Does anyone know what 
that is called?

It looks something like this:  \/\/ but carry the two outside lines down 
to meet in an angle cut creating the diamond shape.

According to what I saw on the cob tests, this should keep the structure 
from collapsing in an earthquake and minimize cracking. The rebar is 
already part of the plans vertically.

I really feel we are so close to code on this. What a wonderful group of 
people to go to the expense and effort to have all these tests done!

I will follow steps to ensure safety according to what we know to help 
that cause. If anyone thinks of anything that can help, please let me know.
