[Cob] Stanley Park Popcorn Stand Seismic TestJanet Standeford janet.standeford at gmail.comThu Mar 25 21:36:22 CDT 2010
Thank you for this information. Dulane, Kathy and everyone else who have responded with such helpful input, thank you all. After reviewing some of the seismic tests, I will leave in the braces from pole to pole and make sure the braces go in in that odd diamond shape with the two bottom pieces longer than the top. Everything is cut at angles that fit together. It's very strong. Does anyone know what that is called? It looks something like this: \/\/ but carry the two outside lines down to meet in an angle cut creating the diamond shape. According to what I saw on the cob tests, this should keep the structure from collapsing in an earthquake and minimize cracking. The rebar is already part of the plans vertically. I really feel we are so close to code on this. What a wonderful group of people to go to the expense and effort to have all these tests done! I will follow steps to ensure safety according to what we know to help that cause. If anyone thinks of anything that can help, please let me know.
