I wonder what kind of paint is used on the outside and foundation currently?
There doesn't appear to be much damage. I hope it lasts another couple
centuries.

Here is the link (below) to the photos of the cob house in Nelson, New
Zealand mentioned in "The Hand Sculpted House" book.  Unfortunately they
would not allow pictures inside.  It was completed in 1855 and survived two
earthquakes.  Apparently the soil excavated while building the basement was
used for the walls with addition of horse hair and straw.  Outside walls
approx. 18 inches thick.  Inside walls approx. 6-8 inches thick.  Originally
had a slate roof.
