[Cob] Mosaic

We are building a Rocket stove in our greenhouse and are having issues
fastening tiles and  rock to the surface of the Cob.
Once Cob dries it separates.

Is cob construction suitable for mosaic decoration or would adding tiles
and grout to the surface have an effect such as cement? I want to make a
large undulating bench inspired by Antoni Gaudi's Park Guell and wonder if
cob would be a useful technique.
