In my checking around on building codes it would appear that a number of
areas exempt active farms from most building codes. And the legal
definition of an active farm is often not what you might expect. Many
times something you might do in your spare time would meet the
requirements.

Just one more option to consider. Always remember that the answer you get
may depend on how you ask the question. And on EXACTLY what question you
ask.
