"Cob, an Approved Building Technology" - A Documentary in production by Gregori Robinson, sponsored by the ArtNouveau Foundation
We as cobbers have a lot to learn about how to access public acceptance of a building technology that has been proven by the test of time. By exploring century old, prime examples of Cob Construction in the Devon / Cornwall of Scotland and the Dagon Region of Mali, this documentary will provide the inspiration needed for cobbers to continue their quest for a sustainable environment. The end product of this documentary promises to provide an invaluable tool for cobbers applying for approval from skeptical community planners An work of art in itself, this learning tool can be applied to Schools of Architecture, Art Schools, as well as the General Education System to be included in the ArtNouveau sponsored Environmental Design Programs now being developed, world wide.
ArtNouveau Foundation Coalition of Cobbers is a now forming organization which provides "proof of concepts" for organic architecture. We are inviting the Center for the Built Environment in Sheffield, England to sponsor our Devon and Cornwall segment of the documentary by providing living expenses, air fare, as well as an itinerary with pre-arranged stays in history cob buildings.

Cob Design Competition - an ArtNouveau Foundation sponsored project
Cob construction is essentially a large sculpture, and any commissioned sculptor is required to provide a scale model, before approval. By participating in this design competition, the cobbers will learn the process required to achieve success in obtaining acceptance and approval of your cob project. By working on a scale model of the site, provided by our sponsors, each entry will be designed, including examples of details, such as fireplaces, doors and windows, roof details, etc. so that a perspective client or approval agency will feel confident that the designer/builders have the ability to finish the project to the final detail. The project must include an engineering stamp.
The winning design will be constructed full scale, by a volunteer team of experienced cobbers, who can provide workshops for students of Cobb. The sponsors will provide the site, building materials, accommodation and quality vegetarian meals, as well as entertainment. The sponsors will organize workshops to provide additional labor and an educational opportunity and cultural experience.
The criteria will be designed as time goes on, and be posted on our site. www.ArtNouveau.ws . Judging will be provided by invited organic architects such as Douglas Cardinal http://www.djcarchitect.com/ and James Hubbell http://www.sandiegoart.com/JHubbell/.
To express an early interest in this process and to become part of the development team, please write to Gregori Robinson at robinson at on.aibn.com
