Cob: HelloMiranda Sterling miranda at clearlightsoap.comMon Mar 18 22:33:29 CST 2002
Hello All, I want to introduce myself. I am Miranda, from Wimberley, which is near Austin, TX. I just learned about this building method the other day, when I was frantically searching for some way to house myself and my kids without actually having much money. Somehow I *knew* there would be a way, and lo, as usual, there is. If there are any other cob builders in my area, I would sure appreciate hearing from you! I still have great doubts that the more or less solid limestone in this area will do the cob trick at all--and if I will be able to break the stuff up--there's no real way to put a shovel into this ground deeper than three or four inches. Any tips are much appreciated! This is such a beautiful building style. I love that I can be in more or less dire straits, and still find something so inspiring, so close to what I've always dreamed of building and living in. Crisis is opportunity! I'd really welcome being pointed to other sites, other resources. I've looked at a few webpages, read a lot of stories, looked at many gorgeous pictures, and that is all I know. If anyone has a used copy of some of the books that I've seen out there, like Cobber's Companion, or the one by Bee, and you'd like to trade it for some of my all-natural handmade soap (my web address is at the bottom) or anything else I can offer, please feel free to email me privately.
