During the 20th century a lot of repair work was done on cob buildings
using conventional plasters, cements and concretes which has led to
various problems in these buildings. There are now companies, mainly
in SW England, that specialise in cob repairs. A good source of
information is to use a UK specific search engine like www.lycos.co.uk
with something like cob repairs as a search parameter.
Turns up quite a few interesting links with photos of cob
block stitching and a company that sells cob bricks for 60p each
(about a dollar). Hmmm, that's 3 times the price of ordinary bricks,
now where did I put my shovel ;-)
