Cob: Foundation Strength Relative to Soil Type

Kim,
  the simple answer is for you to do a few experimental pieces.  Lime is
mainly used for stabilizin rammed earth, not for cob.  A good clay soil
properly prepared and mixed will dry hard like a rock.  But, the answer
for you is to simply make a few test pieces.  This is what the
professions do, and adjust the mixture accordingly.
