Cob: Satellite Internet - The Future is Now!!!Abe Connally abe at abeconnally.comThu Jan 16 17:43:00 CST 2003
:) Yes, it is true, you can live in the middle of no-where and not even have a telephone, but you can still check your cob-list email, folks! I use http://www.direcway.com for my service. They are great. The cost is kinda high, but it is better speeds than DSL. I pay just under $60 USD per month for the service. The equipment is made by a company called Pegasus. Look them up on your favorite search engine - http://www.dogpile.com The equipment cost me about $400 USD, and installation was about $200 USD, so it is not a cheap alternative. You do need a clear an unabstructed view of the southern sky (mine is kinda pointed southwest, and I am in west Texas). If you don't have a great view, put the thing on a pole. Anyhow, that's the info folks. I have been using it for over a year, and I am completely satisfied. I love reading my cob discussion in the middle of no-where, while sipping coffee and gazing at the mountains (in between cobbing, of course). Abe --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
