Yes, it is true, you can live in the middle of no-where and not even have a
telephone, but you can still check your cob-list email, folks!
I use http://www.direcway.com for my service. They are great. The cost is
kinda high, but it is better speeds than DSL. I pay just under $60 USD per
month for the service. The equipment is made by a company called Pegasus. Look
them up on your favorite search engine - http://www.dogpile.com
The equipment cost me about $400 USD, and installation was about $200 USD, so it
is not a cheap alternative.
You do need a clear an unabstructed view of the southern sky (mine is kinda
pointed southwest, and I am in west Texas). If you don't have a great view, put
the thing on a pole.
Anyhow, that's the info folks. I have been using it for over a year, and I am
completely satisfied. I love reading my cob discussion in the middle of
no-where, while sipping coffee and gazing at the mountains (in between cobbing,
of course).
