Cob: willow reeds/poles??andrea arnold yodasroom at yahoo.comSat Jul 12 20:52:35 CDT 2003
can you tell me what a "wickiup" is? Willow primarily grows near water - streams, ponds, or areas where there is a high water table below the ground. There are exceptions, as there are many species of willow; depends on where you live. Bamboo is also quite flexible. Alder, White or Green Ash, and Cherry work well, and you will find that many kinds of wood can work if you use thin enough branches. Keep in mind most wood is only flexible when it is still green. Wood should be used within about 2-3 weeks from the time of cutting. Otherwise when it begins to dry out it is much less flexible. If your project requires alot of wood and you want to cut alot ahead of time beyond 2-3 weeks, you should keep the wood soaked or submerged in water so that it stays flexible and doesn't dry out. Hope this helps, -Andrea Arnold __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.yahoo.com
