Cobbers,
Bamboo grows wild all over Tennessee, we call it wild cane here. You can
see it growing in big groves all along the road sides and interstates. I
believe that young bamboo is what was used to "cane" the young american boy who was
spray painting cars or whatever he got caught doing in Thialand, or somewhere
a few years ago. To get a whippin with that stuff hurts like heck and you
never forget it. (and never risk gettin it again)

I harvested some wild cane a few years back to stake straw bales together for
a small building. I let it sit around a few weeks before stripping off the
limbs and by that time it was almost impossible . That was some tough stuff.
I had to use an axe just to chop it down and it wasnt that big. It must
have been the wrong time of year to harvest, cause I finally thru it away,
because I couldnt do a thing with it at that stage.

bye for now, janet, high on the Cumberland Plateau, or wishing to be.
