[Cob] Washington DC cob/Friends of Cob, Washington, DC chapterRaduazo at aol.com Raduazo at aol.comThu Sep 18 08:52:29 CDT 2003
Announcing the formation of: Friends of Cob Washington, DC Chapter There
will be a parallel sister organization forming in the Ohio Valley region
perhaps extending to Michigan Look for notices to appear soon.
Right now Friends of cob has one member: Me. I am Ed Raduazo, a retired
Examiner from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. While working at
the PTO I examined Class 52 Static Structures (Buildings), Class 135 Tents,
Umbrellas and Walking Sticks and class 47 Plant Husbandry. I have taken Ianto
Evans' Introduction to cob Construction at a work site in Sook, British Columbia,
and worked as a facilitator at that location and at two workshops in Ohio.
Friends of Cob has the following goals:
1. To promote the use of cob as an alternative building material and a
means of artistic expression by sponsoring workshops in the Washington, DC area
and by constructing public projects to illustrate the beauty and functionality
of cob.
2. To gather and store materials for these projects.
3. To create a commercial cob industry in the Washington, DC area.
4. To acquire and maintain a library of books on natural building and
other related arts, and to make that library available to Cobbers and natural
builders in the Washington, DC area.
5. To provide consulting services to people interested in natural
building.
6. To match experienced Cobbers and their helpers with jobs and paid
commercial projects in the Washington, DC area.
All Notices for our organization will appear under the heading "Friends of
Cob, Washington, DC." This is so that people on the coblist that are not in the
Washington, DC area can delete our posting without opening them.
People wishing to be members of this organization should send a résumé to
me raduazo at aol.com. Send your résumé under the heading Friends of Cob,
Washington DC. or mail Your résumé on a 3" X 5" card to Ed Raduazo, 9012 Captains
Row, Alexandria, VA 22308.
Warning: If I do not know you and you do not mention the word Cob in your
heading, I may delete your letter without reading it. I prefer to receive
text only messages i.e. they do not have animation or other operating parts that
could contain a virus.
Do not send your résumé to the entire coblist as I would like to keep
that list as uncluttered as possible for other users.
Your résumé should include:
Name:
E-mail Address:
Address or proximity to the Washington, DC area:
Experience relating to cob/natural building:
Your personal goal or what you would like this organization to do for you.
Keep it short, something that will fit on a 3" X 5" card.
If you have no experience with cob, I will try to match you up with an
experienced cobber on some public or private project so you can get experience.
Note the goals stated above will eventually be formalized into a charter
which will be discussed and voted upon by other charter members. I will
probably come up with other goals when I see what goals other Cobbers in the
Washington area have, but if any of you have suggestions for changes or additions to
the goals, please include them with your résumé.
