I figured that I'd let the person who coined the term mention what she meant
by it.
Another, somewhat related problem with cordwood is that round wood cracks as
it dries. This can lead to infiltration that makes the small shrinkages
between the mortar and the wood look insignificant. Also consider the
invasion of the Asian Lady Beetles. Thousands of them through the cracks in
the wood of the nearby semi-cordwood house. The owners HATE Asian Lady
Beetles. It could have been caulked but it was probably easier and a whole
lot less time consuming to just cover up the outside. Don't have to think,
just cover it up!
We can hope that all the problems we have with COB!! or other natural
building techniques are going to be as easily solved.
But the inside walls of the house are gorgeous.
