the sun is at true south at noon

to record this:
put a vetical stick in the gound
mark the shadow at noon
that's true south.

incidentally
to think about your solar exposure
mark the hourly shadow locations
starting at 10 AM &
until 2 PM
this four hour period is more or less the range of most effective solar
exposure during the 6 month fall / winter / spring cold season.
will work in most of US & Canada
