[Cob] a question for everyone

David: What are the advantages of using cob over adobe or adobe over  
cob??

Damon: I see that the biggest advantage cob has over adobe is that it  
is monolithic which means it doesn't have fracture lines (as Shannon  
pointed out) which will bring the building down in an earthquake.  
Essentially the same materials/mix though. You can mix and build  
right away with cob, eliminating that untimely drying process in  
adobe. Cob is faster if you factor in the drying of the adobes. If  
you read the New Mexico adobe building code, it doesn't provide much  
information that pertains to cob, but it does give good testing  
procedures which can be applied to cob as well.
