coblist update/status

Hello fellow and future cobbers (cobites ?):

Since mail to the cob list began almost immediately after I set it up, 
most of you missed at least some of the discussion so far and may wish to 
get a copy of it.  If you wish to do so, send e-mail to 
"majordomo at deatech.com", and include in the body (not subject) of the 
message, the following line:

get coblist cob.archive.9608

This will result in all cob e-mail for the month of August (only a few 
days of mail) being sent to you as a single message (about 80K bytes).
If you have a response to something in the archive, please include
(at most) only the sections that you are responding to, rather than the
whole archive in the response.

I am really encouraged by the amount of interest that has been shown
in this list, I set it up based on 10 people expressing interest in
such a list, and in just a few days we have 27 people on it.

There have been a few glitches, though most of the problem appears to
be problems with part of the Internet back bone going up and down like a 
Yo-Yo on Friday.  This resulted in some of the outbound mail failing to
reach a few members of the list if the net went down in the middle of a 
transfer.  I have manually corrected these failures (all of them I hope), 
and have modified my mail system to hopefully deal with the problem.  If 
you should find that you are not receiving all of your mail from this list,
please let me know.  You will be able to tell that some mail is not reaching 
you if there are replies in the list to messages that you have not seen
and the original message is not elsewhere in your incoming mail queue.
