Cob Masonry StovesSpeireag speireag at linguist.dartmouth.eduMon Aug 4 15:03:32 CDT 1997
Hallo! In my ongoing quest for the perfect construction, I have run across references to masonry stoves, but no good definition for one. How do I make one? Must I buy one? What are the parameters? What must I allow for in construction? Are they all huge? Such are my questions. Does anyone know of a good book or a good website? I've tried the Masonry Heaters Association (I think that's the name), but they seem to be mostly in the business of selling pre-made ones, and I'm interested in looking at any alternatives. I've also run across references to stoves used in Korea and nearby areas which have a long chimney run, the better to extract the warmth from the exhaust. How does one safely build such a thing? I thought that a long run was generally a bad idea because of creosote buildup, but apparently it works. Why? Thanks for any help. -Speireag. 0=====(--------------------- Speireag, aka Joshua Macdonald Alden (speireag at linguist.dartmouth.edu) Ma 's e ur toigh le, sgrìobh thugam anns a' Ghàidhlig agus tapadh leat airson mo Ghàidhlig a cheartachadh.
