I read that some wattle and daub is built with two cocentric layers of posts. So imagine sticking bamboo in a circumference around a round house plan. Two feet out from that imagine sticking bamboo stakes. Weave horizontal cross reeds or sticks throughout each of those circumferences, and then infill the two feet in between them with dirt, puddled adobe, etc. This acts as an insulation barrier. Apparently this was done in a lot of pioneer homes.
