there is some evidence that cob walls that are carrying a load from above (i.e. roof or upper floor load) will perform better in an earthquake that cob walls that are not supporting a load - it has to do with restraining the top of the wall from both horizontal out of plane movement and vertical over tuning - mignt be good to take this into consideration in your design cob on otherfish TCCP otherfish at aol.com
