Aloha,

Just tuned back in...not sure what's gone before on this thread but I was
at CCC "headquarters" recently and experienced the cob "jumbo sofa" that's
replaced the old woodstove in the non-cob house there. It's a larger
version of the ones in Ianto & Linda's cottage, Michael Smith's former
cottage, etc. - rocket stove at one end, but the stovepipe makes a few
passes through the considerably larger cob mass before exiting. They said
burning it for a couple hours lasts the day, and that it was much more
efficient than the woodstove it replaced (which was apparently a late 70's
state of the art model). Apparently no problems with draw despite more
pipe and bends in the cob. It was wonderful to sit on, that's for sure.
And my first thought, experiencing one that large in action, was that it
was the cob equivalent of a masonry heater.
