I was just researching papercrete earlier this week. We might use it to plaster and infill a dome structure near El Paso. Have seen buildings done here in Silver City and also down in Columbus, New Mexico. Some of those folks are reportedly using clay now instead of cement with favorable results. http://www.zianet.com/papercrete/ http://www.northcoast.com/~tms/papercrete.html I see claims of mostly R-2 per inch up to 2.8. That means 5-6" should be pretty decent. Getting a good tight infill with your light-clay or fidobe will gain you a lot of comfort points over a standard fiberglass installation of the same R value. And breaking the thermal bridging of the studs with a 2" plaster will also increase your r-value average for the wall. Mind you, I have not used the stuff....yet! Just getting interested.
