Cob: RE: acquiring clayPatrick Newberry PNewberry at HFHI.orgTue Nov 13 13:23:07 PST 2001
While I can get and have used Koalin clay, I find the red clay a bit easier to work with. The Koalin clay I got was from the sand pit and is considered a waste product. It was very clayish, lumpy and such so I would have to make a clay milk shake and then add it to sand, where as the red "clay" I got already had about the right ratio of sand to clay so it was more of a ready mix type substance. I plan on experimenting with the koalin clay on my finish plasters this spring however. What grade is it? Is it kaolin clay? Does it matter?
