<P>Answers for Darrel</P>
<P>1  the proportions were by volume: buckets</P>
<P>2. Ive been at this for 5 years so its by feel, but to give you an idea I used perhaps 1-1&1/2 bales. So thats alot but not too much.</P>
<P>3. I didn't cut the straw so its as cut from the bale.</P>
<P>I would premix  then add water and make it fairly stiff.  Id make a cone and drive up and down and all around in a circular fashion then spread and do over. as close to wedging as possible. then mix straw quickly.  <BR><BR></P></DIV>

<DIV></DIV>>1.) the clay-sand ratio you mention was this by volume, i.e., 1 bucket :
<DIV></DIV>>3 buckets or
<DIV></DIV>> by weight, ie., 1 pound clay : 3 pounds sand
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>2.) Also what proportion of straw did you use. What kind of guide to
<DIV></DIV>>know you had just the right amount?
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>3.) What lengths of straw did you use?
