And it would be good to repost the warning about slaking, as I've done
it the wrong way (dumping the dry quicklime in a garbage can, then
adding water with a hose...lots of bubbling and splattering, luckily I
put the lid over it and didn't get splashed).

What do you find to be the best way to slake?  Dumping the quicklime
powder into a garbage can of water?

VERY important to use a metal can.  Ianto said he did it in a plastic
one (!!!) and it melted.  The grass under our garbage can scorched
during slaking!
