Cob: Cob- Lime-recipes for limewashCharmaine R Taylor tms at northcoast.comThu Apr 18 10:59:48 CDT 2002
Hi Pat- a limewash with veggie oil or salt in it can reduce the dusting...once you use latex you can't go back and limewash it. So I would say try that- there are recipes and info from the UK article I have up at: http://www.northcoast.com/~tms/wash.html remember that they refer to "slaking lime" in this article which most people aren't going to be doing, the casein ( dry powdered milk), salt or oil can be added to the soaked hydrated lime when it's time to make the limewash. there are a couple of consumer level books out on simple recipes for household stuff- one is called "Paint your house with Milk" referring to whitewah- ie milkpaints, and is useful. do a search to locate it- has hundreds of other uses for sommon items too.
