Those bees lay their eggs in holes in wood.  That's the only place they do 
do this.  So, extremely unlikely that they will attack a sand/clay/straw 
mix.

ah *carpenter* bees, that makes sense ...

when you talk about the horse fence paint not detering them, do you mean on 
exposed wood? what i was wondering was if they'd make holes directly into 
cob itself? (of course, ways to deter them from breaking down wood is of 
interest too ...)
