Subject: [rammed_earth] Anyone need any straw?

Hello everyone,

My name is Terri and I have been lurking on this and other
natural building lists for years. I am a single working mom and I
have never really had any time to participate in any discussions.
I have been dreaming of building a cob house for years but just have
not had the money or the help.
The reason I am posting today is I have come into a large amount of
straw bales. I have a friend that her father is going to bale up
some wheat straw for us, aprox 100-200 large round bales.
I would like to know if anyone would be interested in purchasing any
of these for cobbing. We are located in south central Ok and the
bales are coming from Lawton Ok which is aprox 100 miles west of us.
We are trying to work out shipping and other costs but need to know
as soon as possible if there is anyone who is interested in the
large round bales because her father is going to be harvesting his
wheat in the next few days and needs to know whether to bale the
staw or turn it under. We are not quite sure about the costs and
would like to know what staw is going for right now. We are not
wanting to make a big profit ourselves but enough for our trouble
and expenses. We know it is next to impossible to get straw in this
part of the country because we have tried to get staw for horse
bedding and it is way too expensive because they don't bale it
around here. My friends dad is doing this as a favor so we can get
some straw but he won't do it if he can't recoupe his expenses.
Thanks in advance for any assist in this.
Terri
