On either Saturday or Sunday (depending on predicted weather and
volunteer preferences) there will be a free plastering class at Green Spring
Gardens Park in Fairfax County starting at around 9:00 AM.
Last Sunday we applied a horse manure/earth plaster to the
outside walls and an Ollywood plaster to some of the inner walls of the children's
playhouse. So, continuing the process we will finish plastering the interior
walls, and mix up a lime, sand color finish plaster and attempt to finish the
walls completely.
The lime plaster will be mixed on the site, but the Ollywood (a
mixture of clay and shredded government documents) must be made up a day or two
in advance. If there is anyone who would like the experience of mix up a
batch of earth plaster from raw materials, please give me a call or E-mail. It is
a two or three hour process, and I will be happy to try and pick a time when
you can come by and help.
If you are thinking of coming to the plastering class and have a
day that you prefer (Saturday, June 12 or Sunday, June 13) please give me a
call at 703-360-2316 or send an E-mail.
