[Cob] Foundation for inside walls?Bonnie Morse bonnie.morse at content-mgmt.comFri Jul 16 11:46:53 CDT 2004
Deborah, I'm glad you asked this question, because I was wondering about a foundation for interior walls too. Have you been able to tour any cob buildings? As far as drawing up a floor plan, I've been having trouble with that also. I know a lot of things I'd like to do, but coming up with a design isn't easy--at least for me. A couple weeks ago I went to Intaba's restaurant and then out to the Ahimsa Sanctuary. Seeing all that cob has really helped me design my own floorplan. I think the more cob structures I can actually visit, the better my floorplan will be. Bonnie -----Original Message----- From: coblist-bounces at deatech.com [mailto:coblist-bounces at deatech.com]On Behalf Of Deborah Denmark Ed, Thanks for the info. One of the reasons I like cob is the ability to make something other than thin straight boring walls. I have been playing with some pretty outlandish looking floor plans and very little of the walls are straight and thin. Even when they were, there has been some cobby feature like a bench or buttress/design element at some point. I am definitely getting a much clearer understanding of the whole support system. Amanda, my common sense thoughts will probably be way overkill before it is all finished. I tend to be a little paranoid which kind of skews the common sense. Deborah
