[Cob] RE:Interior Walls

The clay coated straw/woodchips deal is usually put in slip-form fashion,
which requires some sort of framing. At least that's how I've visualized
it. My impression is that it's pretty easy. I do have a form to strip off
over a window (BIG test--ha!--maybe 18x5 inches and four inches thick. We
put screws about half-way in all the way around to hold it even so. I could
take that off tomorrow and see if it bonded to my form and tears out despite
all the screws.

If I were putting in an interior cob wall, I think I'd start with a
foundation of maybe 12" x 12" of well tamped gravel, maybe even
something--block or stone--to keep it up off the floor. I'd be really happy
to know I didn't have to do all of that for a non-loadbearing wall.

That's if you're working on the ground, not the floor. If there's, say, a
wooden floor already in I think I'd ask for help. Don't know about concrete
either.

Well I'm in the contemplation stage of putting in some interior walls.

I'll be working with cob and wanted to throw out my ideas.

1.) just plain old cob, the same mixture I've used but make the walls
thinner. How thin?
Good question, maybe 4 inches thick? Less, more?

2.) Might be a good ideas to make the cob more straw intensive, that is
add more start than I added with outside walls. I've thought of the clay
coated straw but I think I needed to add a bit more clay than I added
last time.

3.) Use cord wood and cob. (since it's interior wall)

One wall will have a doorway / door.

Other ideas?
