[Cob] geologist consultants?

Anyone ever hire a geologist to check on soil/land stability? What sort of
costs would I be looking at?  



(I'm looking at a piece of property at the top of a hill, and I need to know
if, here in earthquake country, the hill can hold a heavy house)
